Albert Einstein spent his summers on the North Fork.
Albert Einstein was a frequent visitor to the North Fork, summering there from 1937-1939 in a house located on West Cove Road (originally known as Old Cove Road) on Nassau Point in Peconic. Despite the fact that he couldn't swim and had to be rescued from an occasional misstep into the water, one of Einsten's favorite seaside pastimes was sailing on his fifteen foot boat, "Tinef" (Yiddish for "junk").
